feminism [13 Mar 2012|12:58pm]
[ mood | calm ]

feminism |ˈfeməˌnizəm|
noun
The advocacy of women's rights on the grounds of political, social, and economic equality to men.
The issue of rights for women first became prominent during the French and American revolutions in the late 18th century. In Britain it was not until the emergence of the suffragette movement in the late 19th century that there was significant political change. A ‘second wave’ of feminism arose in the 1960s, with an emphasis on unity and sisterhood.
ORIGIN late 19th cent.: from French féminisme.

Now we got the dictionary definition, what does feminism mean to you? Are you a feminist?

Do you like beards, goatees or mustaches? Why or why not?

I don't mind as long as it works on the guy and they are well kept. On a girl, they should be clean shaven. The fresh prickle are not pleasant to make out on, leads to face burn. ouch!

If you could have any job in the world, what would it be?

I would be an artist out of my home as well as be inspired by traveling the world. Perhaps someone will like my work and pay me to do it. ;)

It's hard to say, because there are foods that get eaten during other times of the yr. But, mum's almond crescent shortbread cookies tend to be only during xmas. Always excited for them!!

Have you ever boycotted a company or product? If so, what was it, and what caused you to boycott it?

Yes. Presently:

Dynamite the clothing store. The service is just plain shitty. No reason for me to go in there and expect the same treatment!! Cheap too. Always somewhere else to go.

Walmart. Just all around bad. Bad rep. Bad service. Stupidity. Broken merchandise. My blood starts to boil when I get near the store. I prefer NOT to go inside.

Always. The sanitation pad company. I heard that they tried to discourage poor families in Africa to not use cloth.

Nestle. They encourage African poor mothers to use powdered milk over breast milk.

If there are more, I can't think of them right now!!

Well, the day isn't over yet, but I'll tell you what was consumed until now..

(28 August 2010)

Water near the midnight hour. I had pretty much near 23h00 I ate my supper.
And then I had chocolate & PB chips. This morning when I woke up, I had 2 fried eggs (butter & sea salt were added), blackberry yogurt w/ grapes & baby plums and some summer berry tea. Oh and 2 aero balls. My lunch consisted of aj and KD w/ my version of a little bit of ketchup (butter was added). And some more water. A couple scoops of "Udderly Devine" ice cream. And I made some brownies w/ fresh strawberries - I also ate the batter left over from the bowl and spoon!! I stole a couple bites from my brother's toast (zucchini bread), it only had butter on it. Supper is going to be peas, roast chicken and possibly some carrots - I hear someone shaving something in the kitchen??!!
I might have more food/drink later on, as I'm going to a party, but that's way too much into the future for me to know for sure!!!

Dear Friend,

I am Dr.Cheunge Eric Li Independent Non-executive Director Chairman of Hang Seng Bank Ltd, Hong Kong.

An Iraqi named Ahmed Sadoun Salih,a business man made a numbered fixed deposit of Forty Four million Five Hundred Thousand United State Dollars only in my branch. Upon maturity several notices was sent to him, even during the war, Five years ago (2005). Again after the war another notification was sent and still no response came from him. We later found out that Ahmed Sadoun Salih and his family had been killed during the war in Gunfire that hit their home at Mukaradeeb where his personal oil-well was.

After further investigation it was also discovered that Ahmed Sadoun Salih did not declare any next of kin in his official papers including the paper work of his bank deposit. And he also confided in me the last time he was at my office that no one except me knew of his deposit in my bank. So, Forty Four million Five Hundred Thousand United State Dollars is still lying in my bank and no one will ever come forward to claim it. What bothers me is that according to the laws of my country at the expiration seven years six months the funds will revert to the ownership of the Hong Kong Government if nobody applies to claim the funds.

I want to assure you that this project is real, and one hundred percent risk free and does not relate to any breach of law or proceeds from drugs. It is a matter of necessity to contact you for assistance without any further investigations about your person, it is therefore necessary that you tell me a little about yourself, I hope no form of betrayal will be experienced in the course of our collaboration, I must give you my trust because this transaction is no joke and such opportunity comes once in a life time.

My proposal to you is that I prepared to front you as the sole beneficiary of my deceased client so that i can instruct HANG SENG BANK to release the deposit to you as the closest surviving relation or business partner. Upon receipt of the deposit, I am prepared to share the money with you in half 50/50 percentage. If interested do send me your full names, current home address, phone number, your occupation to this email account: eili.1999@yahoo.com.hk

Your earliest reply will be appreciated.

Yours Truly,

Dr.Cheunge Eric Li,

Independent Non-executive Director

Chairman of Hang Seng Bank Ltd, Hong Kong.

29 forever [05 May 2010|01:17am]
I know I haven't reported any films in awhile:

30 days of night
What sort of monsters do you think are going to emerge from this town? It wasn't SCARY scary. It could definitely make you jump and SCREAM!!

Alice in wonderland
This was great, even the hype didn't kill it. Despite the fact that you know who I am. I like this story. I went to see it with snowwalker. I thought that when I was coming to the theatre - it being march break and all, it was one of the march break deals. No. And then we didn't get the matinee prices. Because it was 3d. ARGH!!! Trying to figure out which we wanted. We decided to pick digital 3d. I think it would have been better to go to the imax for the hollow gram 3d. snowwalker got a headache, I remember he took his glasses off a few times throughout the film. For a 3d film, it was awfully flat. When you think 3d, you think coming out at you, like it's right in front of your nose. This was so NOT the case. I've given up on digital 3d. I love Tim Burton's work. I loved the portrayal of the characters. Though this was more a bit of, Through the looking glass, though I don't remember the story so much and am probably in the wrong. I know that Alice returns to Wonderland. And that's what happens here. So, why call it Alice in Wonderland? Any who, it's beautifully done. It's quirky. I will have to just see it again.

Cliente
A french film, a middle aged woman and her sex life. Interesting. Small time.

Crossroads
Interesting, good.

Death at a funeral
Hilarious, though there's a remake playing in the theatre right now, American version. It appears to be exactly the same, though I'm sure some of the dialog is different. I just don't know if I could see it getting any better. I think I nearly laughed myself silly. Perhaps I'm already silly. Script is awesome. Players are wonderful. I would BUY this film. It's a must see.

Defendor
This is good. W. Harrelson did a great job portraying his character. It's sad and depressing some, but uplifting. You feel for the characters tremendously. You want to be there in the story with them. You should see it. You'll need a tissue box!

Dr. Strangelove
Strange and cute is a way. If you have a bizarre understanding of cuteness. The next time you hear it's playing at the theatre, go watch it.
Some of you will see it just because it's Peter Sellers!

Eraserhead
Somehow, despite it being bizarro, you feel for the characters. You have to understand that this is David Lynch we are talking about. You have to deal with slow and expect what Hollywood doesn't put out. Sad and depressing.

Food, inc.
I felt like this was a focus on our chickens and a reminder of when E. Schlosser wrote his " fast food nations " book. It got me riled up about what I know about the food I consume. And how I wish I knew more. I have always wanted to know more. But, who do you talk to? The idea of having your own animals to feed off of. And wishing you had more control over who gets the local food grown. The way our dairy companies have control, you'd think the rest of the country would use this same method with the rest of what we consume!!

Four christmases
Silly really, trying to please everyone. I do this all the time, but be reasonable. Wait this is fiction!!

Havoc
Kinda dumb, we know they think like this sometimes, some of us experienced this. The poor decisions made. If you feel that your life sucks, watch this to make yourself feel better. I don't recommend this. It's really depressing.

Horton hears a who
Cute, adventurous. It made me smile.

Over the hedge
Hilarious, cute, sad and great animation.

Secondhand lions
Cute, sad, ridiculous, lessons learned kinda.

Double Jeopardy
Meh, not sure if double jeopardy is real or not, or if they just made it up..do I really care to look it up.. why not it's just a quick tinker of the keys, see how I stole that from tinker of the ivories? Interesting: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Double_jeopardy

Matilda
I hadn't seen this in yrs. This is a great story. Should be familiar with it!!!

Moulin Rouge
Silly, I loved how entertaining it was way back when, but I just think it's pure silly. Sad. So sad.

Black Hawk Down
Love enough that I own it, is that depressing that I love this war movie? Or is it that it's what they do or how they perform that I love? I don't know how many times I've seen this.

all 3 jurassic parks
Silly really, first one was awesome, I remember when it came out and how everyone was raving about it. 2 and 3 were not as spectacular, but still entertaining to some degree.

Still more to come...

cellelar telephones [28 Mar 2010|02:15am]
[ mood | curious ]

SO...I've been looking into this a long time. I might ready to do this soon. Please dear friends, answer me some questions and comment if there's anything I've missed!

1. What phones are best in your opinion? From your experience?
2. What plan do you think is best? Cost?
3. I do realize that some of you don't live where I live, but even an input is good.
4. How much are phones?
5. What do you do for LD?
6. Are there more than plan per company?
7. Does anyone have any experience with car phones? Head pieces?
8. Are there some situations where you have to buy the phone from them to get the plan?
9. How much are phones?
10. Texting and actual calls? Does one cost more than the other?
11. Is there insurance on your phone?
12. Do you have to buy the phone, or can you get them on loan?
13. Are there any questions I'm missing?

Thanks for your help.
